Eugene property management company named in multi-state antitrust lawsuit

Eugene landlords Greystar Real Estate Partners LLC were named in a United States Department of Justice antitrust lawsuit for an alleged scheme to decrease competition in apartment pricing. 
The lawsuit, originally filed against software company RealPage in August 2024, was amended on Jan. 7 to include six of the largest landlords in the country, including Greystar, for their alleged involvement in algorithmic pricing schemes.

SU announces new banking system

A new banking system for societies and clubs will see individual bank accounts scrapped in favour of one account handled by the Students’ Union.
Explaing at October’s Student Council, VP Activities Tõnis Tilk says the changes will require SU staff to approve each transaction from one central account, promising that payment requests will be checked 3 times per day.

The University of Oregon Coalition for Palestine held a “100 Hours in Chains” rally to show support for the five students who previously chained themselves to Johnson Hall’s pillars for 100 hours.

The Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Oregon has seen an increase in patients traveling from states away to receive abortion care. This comes over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022.

Erb Memorial Union Starbucks employees walked out and protested outside of the EMU following the firing of an employee on Thursday.
The employee who was fired, who asked to be referred to only by her first name —Alice, said managers told her she was being fired for her use of profanity in a conversation with a manager about a month and a half ago.
